Western streaming platforms spent billions of dollars on sports rights because they believed algorithms could turn data into drama, and then they repeated the exact mistake of legacy television: putting numbers before stories. For a Vietnamese newsroom, that error is even more dangerous because we are still learning how to do data journalism. If we allow confident guesses to replace lines that say insufficient evidence, readers will soon be unable to tell verified news from speculation. In this transfer window, rumor noise is drowning out real signals. What readers need is not another unproven statement; they need a filter. Writers must state clearly what has been verified and what remains a guess. Ironically, an analysis that knows when to stop deserves more respect than an article stuffed with numbers. The blind spot of collective memory is that the stands hate emptiness. We have become used to well-rounded and confident bulletins, so when a newsroom presents a blank page, the first reaction is to call it cowardice. I call it respect for the scene.
